Rob Menendez has been endorsed by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the largest LGBTQ+ advocacy group in the United States. Menendez was previously endorsed by Garden State Equality, New Jersey’s largest LGBTQ+ advocacy group.
“At a time when our rights and freedoms are under attack by extremist politicians and judges, we need strong leaders who will advocate for everyone, including the LGBTQ+ community,” said Human Rights Campaign National Campaign Director Geoff Wetrosky. “That’s why HRC is proud to endorse Rob Menendez to represent New Jersey’s 8th congressional district and it’s why we’re working to mobilize Equality Voters to support him at the polls this November.”
“The progress that has been made on issues of LGBTQ+ equality is under threat by the extremist forces in Washington and across the country,” said Rob Menendez. “In our struggle to move towards a more equitable future, we have learned from the reversal of Roe that progress can never be taken for granted. Not only must we stand up to far-right Republicans and protect our LGBTQ+ community but we must also be a voice for the most vulnerable members of our communities, including transgender children who continue to be the target of vicious and bigoted attacks. I will always be a friend and an ally to the LGBTQ+ community here in the 8th District and in Washington and I pledge to fight until every LGBTQ+ individual occupies a space where they can proudly and freely be their true self.”
HRC was established in 1980 to advocate for pro-equality congressional candidates. It currently has over 3 million members and supporters over the United States. HRC engages individuals and communities to achieve fundamental fairness and equality for all.
