NEWARK – Today, Newark Mayor Ras J. Baraka endorsed Rob Menendez’s campaign for Congress in the 8th Congressional District of New Jersey. The district includes sections of Newark’s North and East Wards.
“Newark is a city of working families, and Rob has made strengthening families the core of his campaign,” said Mayor Ras J. Baraka. “With Rob as one of our two Members of Congress, Newark will be well-represented in Washington, D.C. In Congress, Rob will ensure that Newark benefits from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, and he will support Democratic efforts to expand child care, invest in affordable housing, and other legislation that is critical to our city’s success. Ras J. Baraka has served as Mayor of Newark, New Jersey’s largest city, since 2014. Under his Administration, Newark has experienced a historic economic resurgence. He was recently re-elected to a third term in office by the city’s largest margin of victory since 1954.
